On the Seventh Sunday after Pascha, parishioners of St. Sava Church in Seattle celebrated their Patronal Feast Day – Transfer of the Relics of St. Sava. His Grace Bishop Maxim of Western America served the Divine Liturgy together with Rev. Protopresbyter Serafim Gascoigne from the Church of the Holy Protection of the Theotokos, Seattle, Rev. Protopresbyter Irenaeus Williams from the Holy Resurrection Church, Tacoma, and parish priest Rev. Zoran Aleksic. After reading of the Holy Gospel, addressing the faithful, Bishop Maxim spoke about the blessing of our Lord that assured the Apostles, during this period from His Resurrection to Ascension, that He is the Son of God and the Redeemer of the world. We also, as His disciples, receive from these Feast days the comfort, joy, strength, and at the same time the knowledge that the Lord Jesus Christ is with us until the end of time.
Festive Liturgy was attended by many Orthodox faithful from our sister Parish from the Church of the Holy Protection of the Theotokos from Seattle, and both Parishes were blessed with newly ordained Ipodeacon Peter Eccles, and Readers Johan Gascoigne and James Walters. After the traditional Slava Procession around the Church, Bishop Maxim, together with the Slava Kumovi, Dragan and Zorica Djukic and their daughter Susana, blessed and cut the Kolac (Slava Bread) wishing everyone blessed and happy Slava. The Kumovi of the Church Slava for next year are Milan and Renata Radic with their children Marko and Marija. May the Lord God bless both Families abundantly.
This joyful celebration in Issaquah continued in the Church Hall with a festive luncheon and a short performance of our youngest parishioners for Bishop Maxim and everyone present.
