Jesus Prayer

“O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.”

Prayers for Travel

O Lord Jesus Christ our God, the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Who journeyed with Joseph, with whom You were pleased, into Egypt, protecting him and placing him in a prominent position, Who sent Your Angel of peace to Your servant Tobias to be his companion, Who walked on the water as on dry land and Who rules the expanse of the air, Who made Your servants Luke, Cleopas and the other Apostles worthy for You to be their companion, also O Lord have mercy on me a sinner, Your unworthy servant, and all my fellow travelers, and be a companion to me and to them on this journey.  Protect us from all temptations, from every trap and malice of evil spirits and evil people; encompass us with Your holy angels; keep us within Your law and truth in accordance with Your commandments, so we may return from our journey in good spiritual and physical health, full of Your blessings. You O lord, who opened the way to the heavenly Father, help us as we travel our roads of this world, to not go astray and get lost but, as all Your saints who traveled this world on the way to heaven, arrive in Your Heavenly Kingdom. Hear us, O Lord, our Savior, the Hope of all everywhere on earth and those far away on the sea and in the air. Be gracious unto us sinners and have mercy.  For You are a gracious God who loves mankind, and to You we ascribe glory to the Father,  Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages.  Amen.

Prayers for Day or Night

O Christ our God, Who at all times and in every hour, in heaven and on earth, is worshipped and glorified; Who is long-suffering, merciful and compassionate; Who loves the just and has mercy on sinners, and Who calls all to salvation through the promise of blessings to  come; Lord, in this hour, receive our supplications, and direct our lives according to Your commandments.  Sanctify our souls, purify our bodies, correct our thoughts, cleanse our minds; deliver us from all tribulation, evil and distress.  Encompass us with Your holy Angels, that guided and guarded by them, we may attain to the unity of the faith and to the knowledge of Your unapproachable glory, for you are blessed. Amen.

Prayers for Work

Before Work

Most merciful Lord, Who said that without You nothing good can be accomplished, be a merciful helper to me and help me so that this work and deed which I am about to perform will be according to Your holy will.  Grant O Lord, the lover of honorable zealous workers and workers of good, that the grace of the Holy Spirit encompass the work of our hands so as to glorify Your holy name for the benefit and well-being of us and those close to us.  For every good work reinforces Your will and blessing, Most blessed Lord, who desires that we be saved and progress.  Therefore bless, O Lord, that our work be successfully brought to completion, to the glory of Your holy name and for the salvation of our souls and bodies.  Glory and thanksgiving be to You, the giver of good things Who works for our salvation.  Amen.

 After Work

May Your holy name be blessed, O Lord Jesus Christ, Our God and Savior, Who has strengthened our weakness, so that we were able to complete our work and effort today.  You, Who are full of all good things and bestowed with all pleasing efforts and work, most merciful Christ, fill our hearts with rejoicing and joy and strengthen and bless the work of our hands, for the glory of Your holy name, and Your father without beginning, and Your Godly Spirit.  Amen.

Prayers for Study

Before Study

Most blessed Lord, send us the grace of Your Holy Spirit, to strengthen our spiritual powers. That by being attentive to the instruction which we will be given, we may increase in knowledge for Your glory, O our Creator, to the joy of our parents and to the benefit of our Church and Country.  Amen.

 After Study

We thank You, O Creator, that You have made us worthy to receive Your grace so that we could learn.  Bless our masters, parents and teachers who bring us to the knowledge of good, and grant to us the strength and firmness to continue in this study.

Through the prayers of our holy fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us.  Amen.
