  Morning Prayers

In the name of the Father, Son, and  Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Through the prayers of Your most pure Mother and of all the Saints, O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us.  Amen.

Glory to you, O  God, Glory to you.

Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of truth, Who are present everywhere, fulfilling all things; Treasury of blessings and Source of life, come abide in us, cleanse us of all stain, and save our souls, O Good One.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.  (3 times)

Glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, cleanse us of our sins. Master, forgive our transgressions. Holy One, visit  and heal our infirmities for Your name's sake.

Lord, have mercy. (3 times)

Glory to the Father,  Son, and  Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who is in the heavens, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Trinitarian Tropars, Tone 1

Having risen from sleep, we fall down before you, O Good One, and lift up to You, O Almighty, the angelic hymn: Holy, holy, holy are You, O God. Through the Mother of God have mercy on us.

Glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You have raised me from bed and sleep, O Lord; illumine my mind and heart.  Open my lips that I may praise You, O Holy Trinity: Holy, holy, holy are You, O God. Through the Mother of God have mercy on us.

Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

The Judge will come unexpectedly and everyone's deeds will be revealed. So, we cry with fear at midnight: Holy, holy, holy are You, O God. Through the Mother of God have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy! (12 times)

Arising from sleep, I thank You, O all holy Trinity, for in Your great goodness and patience You have not turned Your anger upon me, a lazy sinner, nor have You let me perish because of my transgressions, but have shown Your usual love for mankind. You have lifted me from my despair, that I may be vigilant and glorify Your might. Now, therefore, illumine my mind's eye and open my mouth that I may learn Your words, understand Your precepts and do Your will; and sing to You in open-hearted confession and praise Your all holy name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to You, O King, almighty God, Who in Your divine care and love for mankind has granted me, a worthless sinner, to arise from sleep and enter Your bright day. O Lord, accept the voice of my prayers like those of Your all holy and wise angelic powers, and grant that with purity of heart and meekness of spirit I may bring You praise from my soiled lips. Being a sinner, illumine the candle of my soul, so I may also be numbered among the wise virgins to praise You, God the Word, glorified in the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Come, let us worship God our King.

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ our King and God.

Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ Himself, our King and God.

Psalm 50

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the multitude of Your compassion, blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

For I realize my iniquity, and my sin is before me continually.

Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight, that You may be justified in Your words and win when You are judged.

For, behold, I was conceived in iniquities, and in sins did my mother desire me.

For, lo, You love truth; the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom You have made known to me.

You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I shall become whiter than snow.

You shall make me  hear joy and gladness; the bones that have been humbled will rejoice.

Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

Cast me not away from Your face, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and confirm me with a princely spirit.

I shall teach Your ways to the lawless and the godless will return to You.

Deliver me from blood, O God - O God of my salvation - and my tongue shall extol Your justice.

O Lord, You will open my lips, and my mouth shall declare Your praise.

For if You had desired sacrifice, I would have given it; but burnt offerings do not please You.

The sacrifice for God is a contrite spirit; a contrite and humble heart God will not despise.

Gladden Sion, O Lord, with Your good will; and let the walls of Jerusalem be built.

Then You will be pleased with the sacrifice of righteousness, the oblation and burnt offerings; then they will offer calves on Your altar.

Symbol of Faith [The Creed]

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God; begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, True God of True God, begotten, not made, of One Essence with the Father, through Whom all things were made.

Who for us men, and for our salvation came down from Heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary, and became Man.

Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, He suffered and was buried.

And He rose on the third day according to the Scriptures.

And ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.

And He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.

And His Kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son is equally worshiped and glorified, Who spoke by the  Prophets.

And in one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.

I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the future age. Amen.

First Prayer by St. Macarius the Great

O Lord, cleanse me a sinner, for I have never done anything good in Your sight; rather deliver me from the evil one and let Your will be in me so that I may open my unworthy mouth without condemnation and praise Your all holy name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Second Prayer by St. Macarius the Great

Arising from sleep, I bring the midnight song to You, O Savior, and falling before You I cry out:  Do not let me fall asleep in the death of sin, but bestow mercy on me, O You who were crucified of Your own free will. Hurry, raise me up who lays in laziness and save me as I say this vigil prayer. After this night's sleep, illumine this day without sin, O Christ God and save me.

Third Prayer by St. Macarius the Great

Arising from sleep I hurry to You, O Master, lover of mankind, and because of your compassion strive to do Your work. I pray to You, help me at all times and in all things. Protect me from the evil works of this world and save me from all diabolic attacks, leading me into Your eternal kingdom. For You are my creator, protector, and bestower of all good things, and all my hope is in You, and I glorify You now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen

Fourth Prayer by St. Macarius the Great

O Lord, in Your great goodness and abundant compassion, has granted me, Your servant, to pass the time of this night without the danger of evil temptations from the jealous enemy. O Master and Creator of all, by Your true light and with an illumined heart, grant that I may do Your will now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Fifth Prayer by St. Basil the Great

O almighty Lord, God of the powers and of all bodies, Who dwells in the heights and cares for the humble, Who questions our hearts even though You foreknow people's secrets; eternal, ever-living Light, in Whom there is neither change, nor shadow of alteration; accept our prayers which we offer from stained lips, O immortal King. Trusting in Your abundant mercy, forgive every sin which we have committed in deed, word or thought in knowledge or in ignorance. Cleanse our body and soul from all stains. Grant that with an alert heart and sober thought we may pass the whole night of this life in anticipation of the brilliant and foretold day when Your only-begotten Son, our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will come with glory upon earth to render judgement to everyone according to their deeds. May we not be found fallen or idle, but alert, ready to perform works. May we be prepared to accompany You into the joy of the  divine palace of Your glory where the voice of those who praise You is unceasing and the unspeakable sweetness of those who behold the ineffable beauty of Your face. For You are the true Light Who enlightens and sanctifies all, and all creation glorifies You in song forever. Amen.

Sixth Prayer by St. Basil the Great

We bless You, O most high God and Lord of mercies Who always does for us that which is great, indescribable, glorious, and numerous.  Who grants us sleep so that we may fortify ourselves because of our weaknesses, and to rest our body. We thank You for not abandoning us with our transgressions, but rather You have shown Your customary love for mankind and lifted us up, who were asleep, so that we may glorify Your power. Therefore we beseech Your abundant goodness.  Enlighten our thoughts, remove from our eyes and mind the heavy sleep of laziness, open our mouths and fill them with Your praise, so that we may joyfully sing,  and confess to You; God, Who is glorified in all and by all; the eternal Father, with Your only-begotten Son and Your all holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.  Amen.

Seventh Prayer, Midnight Song to the Most Holy Mother of God

I sing your grace, O Sovereign Lady, and pray to you to grace my mind. Teach me to step aright in the way of Christ's commandments. Strengthen me to keep awake in song and dispel the dream of despondency. Release me, bound with bonds of sin, O bride of God, by your prayers. Guard me by night and also by day, and drive away my foes who defeat me. O Bearer of God, the Giver of Life, enliven me who am deadened by passions. O Bearer of the unfailing Light, enlighten my blinded soul. O Marvelous Palace of the Master, make me a house of the Divine Spirit, O Mother of the Healer, heal the perennial passions of my soul. Guide me to the path of repentance, for I am tossed in the storm of life. Deliver me from eternal fire, from wicked war and from hell. Expose me not to the pleasure of demons, guilty as I am of many sins. Renew me, grown old from senseless sins, O most Immaculate One.  Keep me away from all torments, and pray to the Lord of all for me. Grant me to receive the joys of Heaven with all the Saints. O most Holy Virgin, hear the voice of your unnecessary servant. Grant me torrents of tears, O most Pure One, to cleanse my soul from impurity. I offer the groans of my heart to You unceasingly. Be cheerful, O sovereign Lady. Accept my service of supplication and offer it to compassionate God. O you who are above the angels, raise me above this world. O lightbearing heavenly tabernacle, direct the grace of the Spirit in me. I raise my hands and lips in your praise, defiled as they are by impurity, O all-Immaculate One. Fervently intercede before Christ to deliver me from soul-corrupting evils, to whom is due honor with adoration, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Eighth  Prayer to Our Lord Jesus Christ

My most merciful, and all-merciful God, Lord Jesus Christ, through Your great love You did come down and take flesh to save all. And again, O Savior, save me by Your grace, I pray You, for if You should save me for my works, this would not be grace or a gift, but rather a duty. Indeed, in Your infinite compassion and unspeakable mercy, You O my Christ has said:  "Whoever believes in Me shall live and never see death." If faith in You saves the desperate, then I believe.  Save me, for You are my God and Creator. Impute my faith instead of deeds, O my God, for You will find no deeds which could justify me, but may my faith suffice for all my deeds. May it answer for and acquit me, and may it make me a partaker of Your eternal glory. And may Satan not seize me, O Word, and boast that he has torn me from Your hand and fold. O Christ, my Savior, whether I will or not, save me. Make haste, quick, quick, for I perish. You are my God from my mother's womb. Grant me, O Lord, to love You now as once I loved sin, and also to work for You without idleness, as I worked before for deceptive Satan. But supremely shall I work for You, my Lord and God, Jesus Christ, all the days of my life, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Ninth Prayer to the Guardian Angel

O Holy Angel, who stands by my wretched soul and looks upon my passionate life, do not leave me, a sinner, nor withdraw from me for my lack of restraint. Give no place for the subtle demon to master me through the violence of my mortal body. Strengthen my poor and feeble hand, and guide me in the way of salvation. O Holy Angel of God, guardian and protector of my wretched body and soul, forgive me for all the insults I have given you every day of my life, and for whatever sins I may have committed during the past night. Protect me during the present day, and guard me from every temptation of the devil, that I may not anger God by any sin. And pray to the Lord for me, that He may strengthen me in His fear, and make me His servant, worthy of His goodness. Amen.

Ending Morning Prayer to the Birthgiver of God

O my most holy Lady, Mother of God, through your holy and all-powerful prayers, banish from me, your humble and wretched servant, despair, forgetfulness, unreasonableness, idleness, and all impure, evil and blasphemous thoughts from my wretched heart and my darkened mind.  Quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and miserable.  Deliver me from my many bitter memories and undertakings and free me from all evil deeds. For you are blessed by all generations and your all glorious name is extolled unto all ages. Amen

Glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of your most pure Mother, our venerable and God-bearing fathers, and all the Saints, save me, a sinner. Amen.
