What is the amount I should pledge? We
hope that your pledge will reflect your love for God and the Church, your
thanksgiving for all of God’s blessings, and your commitment to promote the
future of our Church. We also ask
that you be mindful of the needs of our Church and the limited means available
for the Church to meet its obligations. Statistics tell us that it takes a minimum average of $20.00 per week per family just to maintain the active ministries of a typical Orthodox Church, not counting other operating expenses. Also,
please keep in mind that the Church does not receive all of a Steward’s
pledged funds. The Church pays an
assessment of approximately $105.00 per voting Steward to the Diocese.
Donations in excess of the Diocese assessment are used to pay the bills
and programs of the Church. When
deciding on your pledge, please remember there are four basic principles of
Christian giving. First, God loves
a cheerful giver (II Corinthians 9:7). Second,
giving should be proportionate and giving out of thanks will involve sharing a
portion of our income for God’s work. Third,
our giving needs to be regular and methodical (I Corinthians 16:2). Fourth, our gift should be sacrificial. Our giving maybe difficult, but that is the meaning of sacrifice when choices have to be made. We all find time and money for the things we value the most. We need to make God a priority. We should consider what we spend on television, holidays, pets, dining out, sports events, vacations, etc. How do these compare with our giving for God’s work? Below are a list of the most frequently asked questions regarding Stewardship. Please click on those that may apply to you.
If you have not already done so, please complete your Stewardship Pledge Card and return it to the Church. Please remember that your stewardship donations will be kept confidential.
